Here are some projects for 2016 which are being undertaken by the Committee members:
#SedgefieldPoliceStation
For some 18 odd years, the local councillors, CPsF executive committee & residents have been urging government to erect a new fully fledged police station in Sedgefield. In 2011, the fight for a new station was toned down as it seemed as if no one in government was prepared to hear our pleas. Well we have decided to take up the fight once again, but this time with a different approach to it.
There is certain criteria which taken into consideration by the government officials when deciding on whether a new station is viable in a particular area. Some of the criteria includes population count, coverage of area & also crime statistics. We are therefore investigating facts pertaining to fully fledged police stations in a 350km radius of Sedgefield which are located in small towns & serve the same or smaller populations. Then there is the crime statistics for each of these various stations - that current info may however prove to be a little bit more difficult to obtain.
The stations we are going to be comparing are Kwanokuthula, Herbertsdale, Uniondale, Stilbaai & Struisbaai.
Once all the facts have been gathered and compiled, together with the local Community Police sub Forum, affiliate organisations and the residents of Sedgefield, will submit the documentation to the Western Cape Minister of Community Safety, Dan Plato as well as National Ministers.
This project will be undertaken during the second quarter of 2016 by Mike Hofhuis, in conjunction with various affiliate organisations.
